The first project to get its own page here is the BizarreBox Artisan Keycap Storage case. Now, you may not need any explanation at all to understand what these are, or you may already own one of them (thanks!), or you may have absolutely no idea what these might be. If you are among the latter group, here’s an introduction for you.

These cases are made from laser-cut sheets of acrylic, and held together using black-oxide-coated bolts with nylon capnuts for feet. We have boxes that store as few as 5 keycaps, or as many as 120, and they are named based on the number of keycaps that they hold. Each case is made of 10 layers of 3mm acrylic. There is a layer of EVA foam that sits underneath the keycaps, which keeps them from moving around and also from bumping against the hard plastic. The materials used for keycaps are generally quite sturdy, but they can be quite expensive so any reduction in potential wear and tear is a good thing. Additional layers of EVA foam can be purchased to sit between the keycaps and the lid when transporting them.

Comparison of sizes

Bizarre5 – $20 including shipping in the USA. These include 2 lengths of screws, which allow them to be built as either a tall or short version. The tall version should accommodate almost any artisans with clearance for padding and lid. The short version will not accommodate the lid if the case is used for taller artisans, but it does look better for display.
